    Overview

    Summary
Varian Fry and Ernst Hanfstaengl, Adolf Hitler's press secretary, met briefly in Berlin in 1935. Hanfstaengl's comments on divisions within the Nazi party on the Jewish question, were to have a profound impact on Fry's actions nearly a decade later on behalf of Jewish refugees in Nazi-occupied France. This film examines the lives of two men who responded differently to the cataclysmic events of the Second World War.
