He speaks of the Russian occupation of his home town; the ghettoization immediately following the German occupation; the killing of his family; his escape to the woods, where he remained in hiding for two years; his deportation to Siberia by the Russians in 1944; and his emigration from Russia, including his stay in a displaced persons camp.
