    Fox Movietone News Story 23-139. Filmed on August 28, 1934. Journalist Dorothy Thompson, wife of novelist and playwright Sinclair Lewis, speaking on being expelled from Germany because of newspaper articles written in 1932 against Hitler and the Nazi Party. Thompson speaks on her expulsion, censorship by German government, and German treatment of foreign correspondents.

    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased this from the University of South Carolina Newsfilm Library in 2002.The footage was obtained as research for the Museum's special exhibition in 2003 on Nazi bookburning, "Fighting the Fires of Hate."

    USHMM acquired a new digital copy of this newsreel outtake from the Moving Image Research Collections at the University of South Carolina in August 2018 for use in an educational social media post.
