    Description
    US propaganda/documentary film about World War II. A post-war U.S. narrative of intentions in Germany.
    Includes images of Goering at a press conference, war crimes trials, animated question marks, people around a pile of burning books in street, CU of "Mein Kampf" going into flames. "We will abolish all Nazi laws in which these ideas are fixed - all laws of discrimination by race, creed, or political opinion. It is not our intention to enslave the German people, but to re-educate them toward a democratic way of life." German civilians gathered looking at posters describing atrocities of war, BG wall reading KZ Dachau in white paint.

    Film Provenance
    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased the collection from various sources in 1988. Footage was obtained as research for the United States Holocaust Memorial Campaign's promotional video called "A Campaign to Remember" by David Haspel & Associates.
    Note
    This footage is most likely an additional segment from the documentary "Lest We Forget". Entire film runs 85 minutes. See Story 133, Film ID 156 for Reels 1 through 6 of this documentary, and Story 20, Film ID 4 for Reels 7 through 9. See Stories 33 and 3432, Film ID 5 for possible duplicate footage. Similar scenes of civilians looking at posters in 111 ADC 4655 (Story 2776, Film ID 2336).

    There are many familiar scenes from Signal Corps reels throughout this film.
