    Description
    Two French soldiers studying map in field in Colmar Offensive, smoke behind. CU men on ground looking through binoculars, firing machine guns, throwing grenades, explosions, running through smoke. French troops in village with damaged buildings. Captured German prisoners of war, being marching off. Tanks and jeep on narrow village street, body, soldiers running. U.S. tank passes, soldier gives V-sign. Armored vehicles. French advance along houses. 01:03:18 Silhouetted Gen. Montsabert and another study snowy battlefield from hilltop observation platform at the Maginot Line. They study a map and look through binoculars. American Brig. Gen. Robert Young (?).

View from above, soldier patrolling (brief) and civilians along lane. French soldiers in the field, U.S. soldiers on radio phone. Fort wall. GIs cleaning rifles. Men walk along top of gun emplacements. Firing from guns across Moselle River, explosions in valley.

Women and men behind fence look at camera awaiting liberation. Women knitting; some sitting, some standing, holding dogs. Various shots of a large group behind the fence smiling, including Janie Halsted, Manfred Tannen, and Margaret Tannen at 01:08:22 and 01:08:33. U.S. soldiers look on. 01:08:44 Woman plays with hand puppets of animals at the fence. People wave to U.S. Army trucks passing by. View from above of the crowd, cameraman passes in the street. Family with baby smiling, U.S. flag in BG, CUs. Large group of people (men, women, children) parade towards the camera carrying U.S. flag, waving, including Sophie and Martin Waters. Nuns walking on street, then coming out of church as spectators watch.

    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased this outtake from Footage Farm via Northeast Historic Film in May 2010.
    Note
    Rodi Glass identified family members in this footage, including her parents Sophie and Martin Waters, Janie Halsted, and Manfred and Margaret Tannen. Rodi appears in RG-60.2062. The family was Dutch and were in Westerbork before being liberated from Vittel.
