    Description
    This collection contains records of the internment and forced labor of Roma in the rural area of the Yonne; the former Saint-Maurice-aux-Riches-Hommes train station, used to intern refugees from the Spanish Civil War and subsequently Roma; the internment in Saint-Denis-lès-Sens of Jews, Roma, and foreigners expelled from coastal "zones interdites"; the internment in Vaudeurs of "subversives" and black-marketeers; the use of the jail in Auxerre as way-station for Jews being sent to Drancy; and the internment in the Caserne Goué military barracks in Auxerre of accused Nazi collaborators after the war.

    Conditions on Access
    This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. No other restrictions on access for material received. Certain documents are still classified and will be microfilmed separately from 152 W 265 concerning sequestered property belonging to unions of dentists and pharmacists as well as to Jews (i.e. DPCi reel no. 2 Mi 567)
    Conditions on Use
    No duplication of microfilm reels without the written permission of the Departmental Archives of the Yonne. Researchers agree that the use of the microfilmed documents is subject to the fair practice principles of the Berne Convention, especially Article10, in accordance with the adoption of these principles by their respective countries. Parties who have been granted access to the archival material agree that they must obtain the prior written consent of the Directorate of the Departmental Archives of the Yonne before using the Archival Material for other than scholarly and educational purposes and that the Directorate may require payment of license fees for such use. Any publication of these documents should mention that they belong to the "Departmental Archives of the Yonne”.

    Provenance
    The administrative documents are from the prefect's office, the police department responsible for surveillance of foreigners, the department of internment camps, the tax and financial administration, police investigations ("Renseignements Généraux"), the Auxerre prison, the local civil court, and the Comité d'histoire de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Source of acquisition is the Departmental Archives of the Yonne (Archives Départementales de l'Yonne). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s International Archives Project in August 2008
