The collection consists of artifacts (briefcase and textile), documents, correspondence and photographs related to the experiences of Henry and Rose Basch as Jewish refugees in Shanghai, China, before, during, and after the Holocaust.

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2008 by Dr. Eric Goldstein and Sonia Riegel.
