    Description
    The collection Kriegsgefangene consists of several war-time prisoner lists of which two lists were reproduced by the USHMM: 1. Stammlager XVII B Gneixendorf/Sterbebuch/AdR/DWM/08 ("Gfg. Lgr. Gneixendorf, Totenbuch 2.8.43-26.4.45"). This list contains prisoners of war of various nationalities, including Americans, who died in the POW camp Gneixendorf between August 2, 1943 and April 26, 1945. The list of the dead includes Americans, Belgians, French, Italians, Poles, Romanians, Russians, Slovaks, Yugoslavs, and other nationalities. 2.The second list includes more than 2,000 prisoners from various countries whom the Gestapo transferred from jail in Vienna to the “labor reeducation camp” in Oberlanzendorf between January 1, 1944 and July 13, 1944. This list of prisoners includes Croatians, Greeks, French, Poles, Russians, Serbians, Slovaks, Ukrainians, and other nationalities. The list also includes political prisoners.

    Conditions on Access
    This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. Users are required to complete a User Declaration in order to gain access to the collection. User declarations must be forwarded by USHMM once a year to Austrian State Archives.
    Conditions on Use
    Use of archival material from the Austrian State Archives is limited to personal or scholarly research or for research about the applicant’s family members. Transfer of the reproduced archival material to third persons is not permitted. Publication of archival material requires the written permission of the Austrian State Archives. The researcher agrees to cite the original archival reference and name of the source archive in any work and publications, personal data are to be published in anonymized form only, a copy of any publication in which archival material from the Austrian State Archives was used shall be sent to the Austrian State Archives free of charge.

    Records from the Österreichisches Staatsarchiv (Austrian State Archives), archival signature : AT-OeStA/AdR MaNsZ KG. The records originate from the following agencies: Kriegsarchiv (acquired in the mid-1950s), and Archiv der Republik (1987 transfer). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received duplicates of the collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archival Programs in May 2009.
