    Brief Narrative
    The Sachsenberg psychiatric asylum, which is where this bed was used, was one of many hospitals in Nazi Germany that participated in the murder of the physically and the psychologically handicapped patients, which began as a movement ordered by Hitler to rid the country of these disabled persons. By WWII, approximately 1000-1100 patients were held in Sachsenberg.

    Aluminum bed; headboard: simple open grillwork with curved upper bar and four perpendicular bars attached to center bar with decorative fittings; footboard: curved upper bar bisected with center bar, two short bars attached to center bar with ball fittings also attach to solid metal sheet; wire springs and mattress lift; bed frame on wheels; frame painted white; printed tag on side rail, "Inv. Nr./Bezirkshevenklinik/Schwerin"
