    Interview Summary
    Ruvim Izrailevich Shtein, born January 15, 1926 in Koziatyn in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, discusses his experience as one of the very few survivors of the Babi Yar Massacre in Kiev, Ukraine; being in the crowd that entered the killing site; and how he escaped by jumping in a drainage pipe that ran below the surface of today’s Dorohozhytska Street.

    Marjorie Rouse interviewed Ruvin Izrailevich Shtein on November 14, 1999 for her documentary "Who Destroyed Kiev?" which she produced with Bart Childs under the production company name, Bear Hill Productions. She donated a copy of the interview to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in March 2011. The interview was transferred to the Museum's Oral History Branch in April 2011.
