    Overview

    Description
Consists of articles written by Dr. Georges Hauptmann regarding the work and Holocaust experiences of Professor Robert Waitz. Professor Waitz, a hematologist, was deported to Auschwitz in October 1943, where he worked as a doctor in the prisoner's hospital in Monowitz. He was liberated from Buchenwald in April 1945. Professor Waitz was later president of the International Auschwitz Committee between 1960-1967 and the collection contains speeches he made in that capacity as well as speeches and articles regarding his research on the consequences of deportation and medical experimentation, particularly the typhus epidemic at Buchenwald. The collection also includes written testimonies with fellow survivors, tributes written about Professor Waitz, copyprints, and a finding aid to his collection, which is located at the University of Haifa.
