- This collection contains files relating to the functions of Heinrich Himmler’s personal staff, who served as his chancellery, adjutant’s office, and transmitters of orders to the SS, Waffen-SS, and police forces. The subjects covered in this fragmentary collection include Himmler’s personal interests such as Das Ahnenerbe and the Lebensborn association, as well as population transfer issues and economic and legal/court matters. Himmler’s functions and interests in the state and military sectors are underrepresented here.

- This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. To access Bundesarchiv collections researchers must fill out a "Request for Access to Bundesarchiv Documents." German and English-language copies of the "Law on the Preservation and Use of Federal Archival Documents" are available at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives reference desk. The requirement was stipulated by the Bundesarchiv in the cooperative agreement signed with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

- Source of acquisition is the Bundesarchiv, Berlin, Germany (Bestand NS 19). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's International Programs Division acquired the microfiche from the Bundesarchiv in Koblenz, Germany, in 1998. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the microfiche in April 1999.
