KL Auschwitz-Birkenau

Contains records from Auschwitz-Birkenau relating to the Office IV Department of Administration. Includes personnel paperwork, lists of the transfers of SS officers and of SS property, SS use of the tailor and cobbler services, driving permits, and the order and distribution of supplies, such as clothing, office supplies, and other miscellaneous goods. Includes lists of materials confiscated by prisoners and of the ordering of coal for the crematoria. Most of the paperwork includes the name of the member of the SS making the request.

Source of acquisition is the Państwowe Muzeum Oświęcim-Brzezinka, Record Group KL Auschwitz-Birkenau. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Programs Division ordered the records for microfilming in 1998. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the microfilms in June 1999.

This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. No other access restrictions apply to this material.
Conditions on Use
Any use of archival materials for purposes other than research projects required prior permission from the Museum and/or the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. Users shall not to publish personal information from the archival materials including names, addresses, and other information identifying specific individuals, unless the information has been deceased for more than 30 years or is related to an historical figure or a current public figure. Otherwise users will publish the information only in anonymous form, except as permitted in writing by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
