    Description
    Contains a memoir titled "The Paper Gauze Ballerina" written by Sophie Miklos about her experiences prewar in Romania, deportation from the Oradea ghetto to Auschwitz, and liberation by Soviet troops. She also describes being selected as a dancer for a theater performance in Auschwitz. The memoir was transcribed from a 1959 recording of Sophie reading the testimony.

    Biography
    Sophie Miklos (née Weisz, b. 1928) was born in Valea Lui Mihai, Romania and had one sister, Agnes. In March 1944, her family was sent to the Oradea ghetto and later deported to Auschwitz where Sophie and Agnes were sent to work and their parents were killed. After liberation in 1945, they returned to Romania. Sophie married Andrew Miklos (1922-2012) in 1948 and immigrated to the United States in 1949. They had one daughter, Ilene.
