Miklos Szalay was born in 1924 in Adve, Hungary. He and other family members protected a downed American flyer who was Jewish during the Nazi-occupation of Hungary. He later immigrated to the United States.

- The donor collected the originals of the materials from his personal correspondence and additional unknown sources. He made photocopies available to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Oral History Department, apparently in 1992, and that department passed them on to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives ca. July 1992, presumably retaining copies in its own departmental files.
