- Consists of approximately 2,166 inactive case files of Jewish Holocaust survivors who claimed restitution for suffering and damage resulting from persecution by the Nazis during the period 1933 to 1945. The cases contain information on life in Nazi occupied areas, conditions in concentration camps, and experiences of displaced persons and survivors during and following the Holocaust. Among the documents are sworn affidavits of witnesses, testimonies of the survivors (claimants), and indemnity claims against the German government.

- This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing station. There are no additional access restrictions to this material.

- Users must sign use agreement form, agreeing not to publish or otherwise make public the names of individuals or other personal identifying information in these files until 50 years after the date of the most recent document in the file, or until proof of the individual's death can be verified.

- The URO is an American organization functioning as a liaison between Holocaust survivors and German reparations agencies. The inactive case files were transferred from their source, The United Restitutions Organization office, in Los Angeles, California, to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in July of 1990.
