Selected records of the General Inspectorate of the Gendarmerie in the Romanian National Archives

Collections contains police, gendarmerie, and intelligence reports, name lists, and correspondence. Documents relate to the situation of Polish refugees in Romania (e.g. Colonel Joseph Beck and other Polish dignitaries), also relate to the Zionists, members of ethnic minorities, and to the internal situation in various counties in Romania, in Northern Bukovina, and in Bessarabia under Soviet occupation. Records include name list of "anti-Romanian" persons, name list of 1610 persons who requested repartitions to the Soviet Union in 1941, diverse correspondence from gendarmerie in Soroca, Bessarabia (now Romania), police reports from Berezove (Berezovka), Ukraine, on the murder of 4,000 Jews by German police. Collection also consists of reports on the deportation of Gypsies to Transnistria, intelligence reports from Odessa, Ukraine, on Communist partisan activities, and some clippings from Romanian newspapers.
