    Biography
    Meta Sternberg-Adler was born on May 29, 1903, in Germany, and attended the Portuguese-Jewish Hospital nursing school in Amsterdam; she graduated in 1933. In 1941, she fled by ship to England, where she spent the war, leaving behind her parents, who were killed in Sobibór in March 1943. In 1948, she left England and moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as a nurse until her death in 1999.
