    Meta Sternberg-Adler
    Meta Sternberg-Adler was born on May 29, 1903, in Germany, and attended the Portuguese-Jewish Hospital nursing school in Amsterdam; she graduated in 1933. In 1941, she fled by ship to England, where she spent the war, leaving behind her parents, who were killed in SobiboĢr in March 1943. In 1948, she left England and moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as a nurse until her death in 1999.
