- Rectangular form constructed of brown cardboard; lid attached to base by metal hinges; metal plates attached to all corners by nails; two metal locks attached to base and lid; leather handle attached to base; leather address label attached to handle; "J. WELLISCH" painted on top of lid; portion of paper label adhered to left side of base with "J.W." painted near label; interior covered by paper with a purple-and-cream geometric design

The collection consists of two suitcases that were used by Emil and Jolan Wellisch donor's parents as they fled from Vienna, Austria, to Palestine and Mauritius during World War II and were again used by the Wellisches when they emigrated to Canada in 1951
