Overview

Description: Group of correspondence written by Werner Kuemmel (donor's brother): two letters sent from a prison in Frankfurt and the others sent from Auschwitz concentration camp. The collection consists of 7 laminated sheets. Hilde and her brother were born to a Jewish mother and a Christian father. Hilde was sent to forced labor. Werner Kuemmel and Johanna Leopold Kuemmel (donor's mother) were arrested and deported to Auschwitz. From there, Werner was sent on a death march to Bergen-Belsen. He did not survive and Johanna perished in Auschwitz.
