- Contains letters written to Werner J. Lipton, originally of Mindelheim, Germany, from his parents, grandparents, and other relatives, between 1941-1943. Mr. Lipton was sent at the age of 11 in 1939, to live with relatives in Switzerland to escape the Nazis, while the rest of his family remained in Mindelheim and ultimately perished in the Holocaust. Includes a letter written by Mr. Lipton's parents on the day of their deportation. Also includes one copy of "Fragments of a Childhood and Youth: Autobiographical Memories" and "Toward the Abyss: Cards and Letters," which includes photocopies and translations of the original letters.
