Robert S. Tullman collection

Collection consists of two scrapbooks and one photo album with photographs and documents pertaining to the donor's uncle by marriage, Robert Tulmann (or Tullman). He escaped from Europe after being dismissed from the opera house in Weisbaden, Germany, and sought refuge in Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Paris, where he met is future wife, the donor's aunt. They escaped through Marseilles, arriving in Detroit where he served for many years as a cantor. Included are photos of R. Tullman in various operatic performances as well as photos of him in the United States. Included also are two documents dated March 31, 1933 and April 17, 1933, dismissing him from his posts in the State theaters, and two scrapbooks containing articles and announcements for his performances between 1925 and 1930.
