Wilfred "Bill" Kay (also known as Szlomo Katz, 1928 or 1930-2016) was born Szlomo Katz in Pułtusk, Poland. When WW II broke out, he and his parents and six siblings fled their home. His entire family perished in the Holocaust. Wilfred survived, spent several years in a displaced persons camp, and immigrated to the United States in 1949.

Consists of four IRO and ORT certificates of technical training, issued to the donor, Szlomo Katz, while he was a displaced person at Wartenberg and Rosenheim, Germany. Alternate spellings used in the certificates were "Katz Szloma," "Salomon Katz," and "Katz Szlojma."

The letter written by Joseph E. White, Chief Engineer/USAT "General R.L. Howe," recommends "Katz Solomon" [donor] as a "good and willing worker." White and Katz worked together bringing displaced persons from Bremerhaven, Germany, to New Orleans, LA.

Collection of three documents issued to Wilfred Kay [donor] while living as a displaced person in West Germany; dated 1945-1949; in German and English. Collection includes: certificate of residency as a refugee in West Germany, notarized certificate of identity, assurance form written by donor's immigration sponsors that he has a job and residence and will not be a burden to the U.S. Government.

Papers consist of six birth certificates that were reissued for Wilfred Kay's siblings: Szulem Iser Sholom Katz, Szymon [Shimon] Kac, Sima Kac, Ester-Leja [Lea] Kac, Ruchla [Rachel] Kac, and Benjamin Kac. All six perished in the Holocaust.
