Joanna Senior Tybora collection

Consists of photographs and documents regarding Edward and Josefa Josette Senior, donors parents, originally of Moscow, USSR. Edward Senior was imprisoned in Stalag XXA as a prisoner of war. After his transfer to Stutthof in 1941, he was executed. Josefa Josette Senior and her daughter Joanna (born 1936) spent the war in Warsaw, posing as Aryans. Josefa was instrumental in hiding many Jews who escaped from the Warsaw ghetto and was named Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem in 1988. The collection consists of postcards and a letter written by Edward Senior from Stalags XX and XI; postcards sent from Josefa to her husband, Edward, in Stalag XX; obituaries of Henryk Senior, the donor’s paternal grandfather, and family photographs.
