- The memoir was written by Maximilian Winkler in Dachau concentration camp following his liberation there. He made contemporary corrections and additions to it in the early 1980s. The manuscript was transcribed by Rosita Winkler. The memoir and transcript were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2006 by Rosita Winkler.
