- Description
- The Schumacher collection contains very diverse files of German government and NSDAP offices between 1933 and 1945, including documents of NSDAP branches abroad, the Office of Racial Policy, the SA, the SS, Hitlerjugend, and other agencies. It includes examples of Nazi propaganda, orders by Heydrich and other officials, documents on the Freemasons and similar associations, and documents relating to Austria, Italy, and other countries.

- This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. To access Bundesarchiv collections researchers must fill out a "Request for Access to Bundesarchiv Documents." German and English-language copies of the "Law on the Preservation and Use of Federal Archival Documents" are available at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives reference desk. The requirement was stipulated by the Bundesarchiv in the cooperative agreement signed with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

- The original files are in the German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv), Collection “Slg. Sch.” Source of acquisition is Yad Vashem.This collection was compiled after the war by Bruno Schumacher, a German employee of the U.S. Document Center in Berlin; Schumacher focused on material that might be useful for war crimes trials.The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's International Archives Project received the microfilm from Yad Vashem in Feb. 2007 through its mutual microfilm exchange program with Yad Vashem.
