Collection documenting the experiences of Ernst Mayer (donor's father) who immigrated to the United States in 1939 from Nazi Germany through the assistance of his cousin, Walter Mayer. Included are photographs, documents, correspondence as well as information about Ernst's draft into the US Army and letters he wrote while serving during WWII. Also includes documentation illustrating Edith Kuechler Mayer's (donor's mother) experiences also fleeing Nazi Germany in 1938. Includes a Haftorah scroll recovered by Ernst in immediate postwar Germany.
