Oral History
In a speech entitled "What it Really Feels Like to be Occupied, 1940-1945," JosMarie Vanderspek, originally of Roermond, the Netherlands, describes her memories of the German invasion and occupation of the Netherlands, including her memories of the resistance and the anti-Jewish actions taken against her neighbors. In the fall of 1944, Roermond was evacuated so that the Germans could place anti-Allied booby traps. They were able to return home after the war had ended. A transcript of her speech is included.
