    Collection Summary
    The collection consists of documents, photographs, correspondence and artifacts illustrating the experiences of Elsa and Bruno Glade and their children in Koenigsberg, Germany, Cuba, the United Kingdom Mexico and the United States fleeing Nazi-occupied Germany. Else Glade and her children Heinz and Lisalore, fled for Cuba in the late 1930s and awaited her husband Bruno, who was on the MS St. Louis, disembarked and spent his war years in the United Kingdom before joining them in the United States after the War. While in the United Kingdom, he met Elsa Levin, with whom he had a third child, named Michael.
    Provenance
    The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum collection in 2023 by Shirley Glade, widow of Heinz Glade, Michael Levin, son of Bruno Glade, and Katrina and Peter Mathsson, children of Lisalore Glade.
