- Case files of individuals arrested by the Gestapo in the Rhine Land region, consisting of questionnaires, protocols, internments and dismissals, Schutzhaft orders, arrest orders, flyers, photographs, and biographical information with particular focus on the Communist Party in Germany and associated political organizations (Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands (KPD), Kommunistischer Jugendverband Deutschlands (KJVD), Kampfbund gegen den Faschismus, Roter Frontkämpferbund (RFB), Revolutionäre Gewerkschaftsopposition (RGO), Rot Sport, Aufbruch-Arbeitskreis, Ringbolschewisten); the Communist movement (including Rotspanienkämpfer, Internationale Arbeiterhilfe, Rote Hilfe); the Esperanto movement; Roter Kämpfer-Kreis; Französischer Rheinschifferverband; the Socialist Party of Germany and associated political organizations (including Sozialistische Arbeiterjugend, Eiserne Front, Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold, Sozialistische Arbeiterpartei); Marxism; foreigners; so-called Rückwanderer; so-called sects (including Adventists, Bibelforscher or Jehovah's Witnesses, Christliche Versammlung); Freemasons; Pacifists, the Catholic Church; the Evangelical Church (including Bekennende Kirche, Deutsche Christen); Jews; emigrants; various offenses such as treason, espionage, sabotage, Vergehen gegen das Heimtückegesetz, Separatismus and allgemeine Opposition; monarchists; Stahlhelm; Nationalsozialistischer Deutscher Frontkämpferbund (NSDFB); Jungdeutscher Orden; Schwarze Front; unions; foreign laborers; prisoners of war; youth organizations, media and the press; radio; the arts; cases involving members of the Wehrmacht, police, the foreign legion, ethnic minorities, and cases against members of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP).

- Archival signatures: LAV NRW, R, RW 0058 (RW-58) Nr. 1-71,728. Arranged in 71,728 archival registration units: Consists of 71,617 Gestapo personal files. The total number of the registration units is higher than personal files because the collection includes empty files (Missing files) and an additional unit was created whenever files were bound into volumes.

- This material can only be accessed in a Museum reading room or other on-campus viewing stations. To access the State Archives of North Rhine-Wesphalia collection researchers must sign a User Declaration.
- Conditions on Use
- No publication on Internet or any other publicly accessible media without written permission of the State Archive of North Rhine-Westphalia. Any commercial use of the reproduced materials or individual parts thereof is not permitted. Transfer of reproduced materials in whole or in part to third parties is not permitted. The Museum may decide, based on the provisions of the Legal Contract, to provide individual working copies of materials to Museum’s researchers on case by case basis.
