Stanislaw Aronson papers

Collection of photographs (24) and documents relating to the Aronson and Kaffeman family in Warsaw and Łódź before the war. In January 1943 Stanislaw (Staszek) Aronson escaped from a transport to Treblinka and shortly after he assumed the new identity of Rysiek Zukowski and became a member of Kedyw Sabotage Division of the Polish Underground AK (Home Army). His immediate family was murdered in Treblinka. After the war, Staszek left Poland and joined the Polish Army in exile. In September 1946 Staszek traveled to Palestine to reunite with his paternal family. In August 1947 Staszek was discharged from the Polish Army and in 1948 he enlisted at first in Haganah and later fought as an officer of the IDF in the War of Independence of Israel. Staszek is married to Margo and they live in Tel Aviv, Israel.
