- Short section of a braided military cord with a narrow, baskeweave section at one end, and a wider, ribbed section opposite. The woven thread is mixed with metal wire of support, and is fraying at the wide end.

Correspondence, documents, and photographs from the period also document the experiences of Maljean's later son-in-law, James C. Totman (donor's father), who served on the staff of General Mark Clark in the European Theater.
