    Overview

    Description
    Comprised of 42 rolls of approximately 763 photo negatives, and additional negatives, photos, and documents that belonged to Henk van Rossum, a Dutch citizen from The Hague. He worked for the government during the war and later became involved with the Dutch resistance delivering illegal newspapers.

    Included in the collection are Dutch illegal newspapers from the resistance, personal papers, as well as a letter from a Jewish friend who wrote about his experiences and family members who were deported to ‘durchgangslager’ Westerbork, concentration camps Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald and Theresienstadt.

    The photo negatives include images of mostly German propaganda posters and notices on advertising pillars in the occupied Netherlands. including collaborationist posters such as recruitment posters for the Waffen SS, antisemitic images, announcements, and concerts in the Netherlands during the German occupation. There are also photos of the liberation of The Hague in 1945, with tanks and allied troops entering the city.
