An emaciated survivor who was imprisoned for five weeks in the Breendonck concentration camp. His weight fell from 90 to 47 kilos due to the starvation diet he was fed.

The original caption reads, "Photograph of M.F. Van Hoecke, aged 52, taken after the liberation of Brussels. Van Hoecke was imprisoned for 5 1/2 months in Breendonck. Note the wound on his right hand and legs."
