Caption: Portrait of twelve-year old Marcelle Burakowski and her father with a photograph of her mother that was incorporated into the upper left corner of the portrait.

Marcelle is wearing a coat which her father, a tailor, had made and given to her that morning. The photograph was taken during a brief visit together, as Marcelle was already in hiding with a Chrisitian family on the outskirts of Paris. The photograph of her mother was incorporated into the portrait upon Marcelle's father's request.
