Portrait of Gabor Halmos, a Jewish refugee from Slovakia living in Budapest.

Gabor Halmos (a cousin of Margit Pick), is a Slovak Jew who escaped to Budapest in the early 1940s and was given shelter by the Pick family. In 1944 he slipped back into Slovakia, where he joined the resistance. He survived the war and made his home in Israel.
