    Biography
Charles Barber (born Karoly Barber) is the son of Aladar and Klari (Perl) Barber. Aladar was drafted into a Hungarian labor brigade in the early 1940's and died on January 16, 1945 in the Sopronbanfalva labor camp. Klari was arrested in Budapest in the winter of 1943-1944 and imprisoned in the Kistarcsa transit camp. She was released after several months but was rounded up and deported to Auschwitz in November 1944, where she was immediately put to death. Karoly (Charles) survived the war in a safe house on Erzsebet Korut Street in Budapest. He left Hungary for the United States in 1956.
