- An Austrian-Jewish survivor, who had been deported from Holland, points out the gallows in Ohrdruf to General Dwight D. Eisenhower and a party of high ranking U.S. officers, including General Omar N. Bradley, Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, and Major General Troy H. Middleton, during an official tour of the newly liberated concentration camp.
The Austrian Jewish survivor is Ignaz Feldmann (wearing a dark coat, with a scarf around his neck) . He was a survivor of Westerbork, Terezin, Auschwitz, and Ohrdruf camps. He was also a player on the famed Hakoah Vienna soccer teams of the 1920s and 30s.
