- Biography
- Steven S. Goldberg (born Szlama Goldberg) is the son of Lejbus and Frymeta (Borensztajn) Goldberg. He was born November 22, 1925 in Radomsko, Poland, where his father was a merchant. He has two sisters, Rachela (b. March 12, 1923) and Ruda (b. January 15, 1925). The family left Poland for Canada on May 28, 1930 and resettled in Montreal. They remained in contact with Frymeta's father, sister and niece, who sent them letters describing their plight in the Radomsko ghetto. Frymeta's father, Chaim Borensztajn, died in the ghetto in 1940. Her sister, Hendel, was deported to Treblinka along with her daughter, Sonia, where they perished.
