An emaciated female Jewish survivor of a death march sits up in bed at an American military field hospital in Volary, Czechoslovakia.

Pictured is twenty-two year old Amalie Mary Reichmann.

The original caption reads "Before and After Enslavement: Weakened by malnutrition after a forced march of 30 days during Nazi enslavement, this unidentified girl was found in Volary, Czechoslovakia, by units of the 5th Division, U.S. Third Army. She was in a group of 150 persons, twenty of whom died daily during the march."
