Gavra and Irena Mandil pose next to a Christmas tree. Mosa (Moshe) Mandil often used his children as models to advertise his photo studio.

This photograph, which he took in the fall of 1940 to promote business for the upcoming Christmas season, later saved the lives of his family. During their escape from Serbia by train in April 1941, the Mandils were stopped by German SS, who demanded to see their papers. When the Germans accused them of being Jews, Mosa showed them this photo, and the family was left alone.
