    Biography
Raffael Brenner was a prosperous Jewish merchant in Cologne who owned a photography business. In June 1933 Brenner was arrested on trumped-up charges of economic sabotage, and his business quickly Aryanized. After his release, Brenner left with his family for Rome, where he reestablished his photography shop. In 1938-1939 Brenner moved his family and business to Washington, D.C., and once again to Haifa, shortly after the establishment of the State of Israel.
