Overview
- Caption
- Photo of Reb Arieh-Leib "der Rubishker" (from Rubishok) Kudlanski, Eisiskes' milkman.
Every Saturday morning, he used to walk to the shtetl's Old Beth Midrash in his prayer shawl. When he passed by, Christian and Muslim farmers removed their hats in his honor. All of his children immigrated to America. He visited them but decided to return to Eisiskes stating that he did not like a country "where people love more the people who walk on the walls [people in the movies] than real people who walk on the fields and streets." When he was in his eighties, the Germans cut his beard and then killed him during the September 1941 mass shooting action in Eisiskes. - Date
