Affadavit in lieu of a passport issued by the American consulate in Marseilles on August 21, 1941 to Werner Goldschmidt, a Jewish refugee youth from Erfurt, Germany, who was scheduled to go to the United States with a children's transport sponsored by the U.S. Committee for the Protection of European Children.

From Marseilles, Werner Goldschmidt travelled to Lisbon, where his affadavit received an embarkation stamp dated September 9, 1941 on the SS Serpa Pinto bound for New York.
