- Portrait of Adolf Brand (1874-1945).
Adolf Brand was the editor of the magazine "The Independent," published irregularly from1896 to1932. In 1903 he founded the "Group of Independents," the second national organization for homosexuals in Germany. The organization and the magazine proclaimed the ideals of male-bonding and male culture, asexual love and pedagogical eros. The Group of Independents, a relatively small group, often stood in opposition to Magnus Hirschfeld's scientific and medical concepts. (Source: Magnus-Hirschfeld-Society, Berlin) - Date
