    Biography
Abraham Sendyk was born May 30, 1920 in Alexandrow, Poland. Alexandrow was a town of sock factories and his family was employed in this profession. Both of his parents died before the war. Abraham was the youngest of four children. His older sisters, Toba (b. 1911) and Nechama (b. 1914) both perished in the Holocaust. Abraham ran from Poland to Czernowitz, Romania. From there he went to the Russian occupied section, working his way east until he reached Teheran. From Teheran he immigrated legally to Palestine in 1944. In Palestine he worked in a sock factory before joining the Israeli army. He married Helen Stapler in 1954.
