Photograph | Photograph Number: 56503

Students in the Giulio Cesare junior high school in Rome.

Those pictured include four Jewish students, Serenella Foa, Graziella Portaleone and two others. This was the last year they could attend the school before the racial laws were imposed.

After Serenella realized she could not return to school, her teacher wrote to her expressing her sorrow at losing such fine students and the reasons for their expulsion.
