Close-up portrait of a Jewish woman in Breisach Germany.

Pictured is Rosa Geismar, nee Uffenheimer (b. 08/31/1879 in Breisach). She was deported to Gurs, France on October 22, 1940 and from there was sent to Auschwitz on Convoy #17 in August 1942 where she perished along with her daughter Erna Maier and her grandson, Hans-Juergen Maier.

This is part of series of photographs taken of the Breisach Jewish community on their way to and from synagogue in 1937. In October 1940 the entire community was deported to the Gurs internment camp in southern France.
