Volunteer card for the Defense Passive issued to Alexander Fainas.

Photograph | Photograph Number: 21255

Volunteer card for the Defense Passive issued to Alexander Fainas.

The card was probably issued to him when he volunteered to patrol to the streets and watch over people during the air raids at the start of the war. It bears his address in Paris and was issued by the Departement de la Seine. However, someone later added the city "Lyon" to the address [perhaps to give Alexander Fainas the extra cover of a semi-official capacity while in hiding in Lyon].
