Annie Pflueger headed the Quaker sect in Switzerland and during the war, served as the head of the nurses school of Zurich. The Quakers vehemently opposed the persecution of the Jews by the Nazi regime. Sister Annie Pfluege, together with other Quakers, helped smuggle Jews from France to Switzerland and assisted them once they arrived.
